CAB Target Marcus Sweeney: Another Linked Firm Struck Off Over Proceeds of Crime Land Deal

Former Celtic Tiger socialite and high-profile Criminal Assets Bureau (CAB) target Marcus Sweeney has faced another major legal setback. A registered property investment company tied directly to him has been officially struck off the national registry.

EWM Property Holdings Limited was formally struck off by the Companies Registration Office (CRO). This development follows a string of High Court actions targeting properties and assets linked to the former restaurateur.

The Co. Meath Land Seizure and Court Threat

The company in question, EWM Property Holdings Limited, was central to the purchase of a 110-acre parcel of land in Waynestown, Co. Meath for €102,500. During intense High Court proceedings, the court ruled that this property had been acquired using the proceeds of crime.

Sweeney operated as the founder and lead director of both the recently dissolved EWM Property Holdings and its closely-linked sister entity, Evergreen Wealth Management, which was struck off earlier this year in April.

“The firm was involved in ‘highly dubious’ investment schemes.” – High Court Evidence

Though the land was originally purchased for €102,000 using unknown cash sources, outside investments, and funds from an innocent investor, the property was eventually seized. The site was sold at a CAB auction in late 2023 for €105,000 after the High Court warned Sweeney’s firm that failure to hand over the land on time would result in being found in contempt of court.

Real IRA Fallout: Nathan Kinsella Money Laundering Dispute

Sweeney’s legal woes have also exposed friction with dissident republican elements. In a separate CAB action, details surfaced regarding a falling out between Sweeney and convicted Real IRA criminal Nathan Kinsella over a failed money-laundering plot.

When CAB officers executed a search warrant at Kinsella’s luxury home in Blackrock, Co. Dublin, they seized three high-value vehicles. Phone extraction evidence confirmed that Kinsella and Sweeney associated regularly, with Kinsella blaming the former socialite for the security crackdowns, threatening to “fold” him over the financial losses.
